The base of the Macbook air fits into the lower portion with the upper portion hanging. A better design would be to have a sleeve so that the monitor also fits into the sleeve exactly like the lower portion. I am surprised that such a basic thing was missed out by the people who have designed it. The quality of the leather is good, however for $98.00 you would expect a better product. Despite the long shipping estimate, I got mine 5 days after ordering. The product is very nice. Leather is soft and appears to be very good quality. The stitching was perfect and the fit is almost perfect. My macbook slips in and fits perfectly, but the cut out around the trackpad was not square. That does not effect the function of the pad, but detracts from the overall appearance of the product. In terms of protection, there is plenty of padding on the top, bottom, and front. The back corners, however, are exposed with no protection. Overall, I'm happy. The case looks good and appears to be of reasonably good quality. Functionality was lacking, in my opinion, in that the upper sleeve was not attached to the macbook air screen. As a result, I had two 1" strips of elastic sewn to the upper corners to hold everything in place. I have attached a photo. Overall, I am very pleased with this purchase and would recommend it to others. It arrived in a timely fashion and is a very nice leather construction.
